The Gospel
The most important news you will ever hear is not about you. It is about what God has done. The good news — the gospel — is that Jesus Christ lived the life we could not live, died the death we deserved to die, and rose again so that every person who turns from sin and trusts in Him will be forgiven, made new, and brought home to God.
1. God created us — and we are accountable to Him
God is holy, perfect, and just. He made the world and everything in it, including every person, and He is the rightful King over everything He made. Because He is the Creator, we owe Him our worship, our obedience, and our love. That is not extra credit — that is the basic shape of what it means to be human.
2. We have all sinned
The Bible tells us plainly: not one of us has lived the way God commands. We have rebelled against Him, turned our hearts away from Him, and gone our own way.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:23 (ESV)
That is not a comparison with other people. It is the verdict before the only Judge whose verdict matters. Every lie, every lust, every word of pride, every act of selfishness — they are not small. They are treason against a holy King.
3. Our sin earns us death
Sin is not a personality flaw. It is a debt. And the Bible says the wages of that debt is death — not only physical death, but eternal separation from God under His just judgment.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (ESV)
Notice what that verse promises. Wages are earned. A gift is given. God did not have to give us anything. But He did.
4. Christ died for us
God Himself moved toward us. Two thousand years ago, the Son of God — Jesus Christ — was born into our world. He lived a perfect, sinless life, then willingly went to the cross. There He took the punishment that sinners deserve. He died in our place. Three days later, He rose from the dead, proving that His sacrifice was accepted and that death itself had been defeated.
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (ESV)
He did not wait for us to clean up. He did not wait for us to get our lives in order. He came to us while we were still in rebellion. That is love.
5. We must respond
The good news is not magic. It does not save people who only nod and walk away. It demands a response — a turning of the heart. The Bible calls this repentance and faith.
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:9–10 (ESV)
To be saved is to stop trusting in yourself — your effort, your goodness, your record — and to put all your trust in Jesus Christ. It is to turn from sin and submit to Him as Lord. It is to believe, with the whole heart, that He died for your sin and rose again.
6. The promise is for anyone who calls
There is no person too far gone. There is no past too dark. There is no addict, no criminal, no skeptic, no failure for whom this offer is closed.
For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
Romans 10:13 (ESV)
How to respond
If God is moving on your heart right now, do not put it off. Speak honestly to Him. There are no magic words, but you can say something like this:
Lord Jesus, I know I have sinned against You. I cannot save myself. I believe You died on the cross for my sin and rose again from the dead. Right now, I turn from my sin and trust You. Be my Savior. Be my Lord. Forgive me, change me, and make me Yours. Amen.
If you prayed something like that, what comes next is not nothing — it is a whole new life. You need a Bible. You need a church that preaches Christ. And you need people walking the same road. We would love to walk with you. Reach out — we will help you take your next step.
